January 2016

How to be a hero with hearing loss in the New Year!

Christopher Reeve had the answer: “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles!”

This month an ordinary individual, like us, who is a hero in coping with hearing loss will present:

“HEARING LOSS 101”

Our Hero is Mr. Bill Rouzer, whose presentation will provide insights into identifying the signs and symptoms of hearing loss, improving communication between people that hear well and those who don’t, and common myths about hearing loss.

The presentation also explains the “speech banana,” a powerful tool for understanding the complexities of the loss of hearing, and concludes with discussing the mental health aspects. Chapter Advisor Ms. Toni Barrient will assist Bill in the presentation and answering questions from the audience.
